Broken tooth? Don’t pull it. Our advanced crown repair preserves natural teeth using biocompatible sealants that last

Dental care

Why Saving Natural Teeth Matters More Than You Think

Every tooth in your pet’s mouth serves a purpose, from tearing food to maintaining jaw structure. When we extract a tooth, we don’t just leave a gap; we potentially alter how your pet eats, plays, and even how their face develops over time.

Natural teeth are irreplaceable assets that:

  • Maintain proper jaw alignment and facial structure
  • Enable normal eating patterns and food enjoyment
  • Preserve bone density in the jaw
  • Prevent neighboring teeth from shifting
  • Allow continued play with favorite toys
  • Support overall oral health balance
Endodontic procedures

A broken tooth does not always mean a lost tooth

What is endodontic repair here?

When a crown is fractured but the root is healthy, we can seal the break with bonded sealants cured with blue light instead of extracting the tooth. That matches the care we describe on our dental services: bonded sealants and blue-light repair for crown fractures.

Which teeth are good candidates?

Strategic teeth such as canines and carnassials, when the root is healthy and the fracture has not destroyed the tooth. Young to middle-aged pets and working or chewing dogs are common candidates. We evaluate fracture depth, root health, and age before recommending repair versus extraction.

Why not just extract?

Saving a sound tooth keeps chewing function and avoids an extraction site. Recovery is usually shorter: soft food for a day or two, then a gradual return to the normal diet if we say it is safe. Extractions often need about two weeks of careful chewing.

What is aftercare?

Soft food at first. No hard toys or tug until we clear it. Annual dental checkups and home care help the repair last.

What happens at this visit?

  • We examine the fracture and take dental X-rays.
  • If the tooth can be saved, we bond and light-cure a sealant. If it cannot, we discuss extraction.
  • You get a written estimate before we treat, then aftercare steps.

What to bring

Bring a short list of food and medications. Follow fasting instructions. You do not need old clinic records if we already see your pet here.

Frequently asked questions

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, our support team is always ready to assist you. Your pets health, our priority anytime, anywhere.

Strategic teeth like canines and carnassials should be saved when possible. We evaluate fracture depth, root health, and your pet’s age. Most fractured teeth with healthy roots are excellent candidates for repair rather than extraction.

Blue light instantly cures dental sealants at the molecular level, creating bonds 3x stronger than air-drying methods. This medical-grade technology activates bonding agents in seconds, reducing anesthesia time while creating more durable repairs.

Crown repairs are highly successful for structurally sound teeth when the sealant is properly applied and maintained. Bonded sealants reduce sensitivity, help block infection, and smooth the tooth surface, giving the tooth the best chance of lasting long-term with good home and follow-up care.

Within 48 hours, for best results, success rates drop significantly. Even tiny chips matter. Cats can lose only 1mm before pulp exposure. Early intervention prevents pain and infection while preserving natural tooth structure.

Days versus weeks. Endodontic procedures require 24-48 hours of soft food, then gradual return to normal diet. Extractions need 2-3 weeks healing, risk complications, and cause permanent function loss.
