In-house laboratory

Most blood and urine answers during your visit

What can you test in the hospital?

Our in-house lab runs complete blood counts, chemistry panels (kidney, liver, blood sugar, electrolytes), urinalysis, and fecal checks for intestinal parasites. We also run SNAP 4Dx Plus screening for heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma, which matters for dogs who spend time outdoors in Morgan Hill, San Martin, and Gilroy.

How fast are results?

Most in-house tests come back during the visit, often while you wait. CBC, chemistry, urinalysis, and fecal checks are typically done in about 10 to 15 minutes. Tests that need a reference lab take longer; we call when those results arrive.

When do you recommend lab work?

Common times are the annual wellness visit, before anesthesia, when your pet has unexplained symptoms, and when we monitor seniors or pets on long-term medication.

What if a test cannot be done in-house?

We send specialized tests to trusted veterinary reference labs and handle shipping and follow-up. You still work with our team.

What happens at this visit?

  • We recommend only the tests that match your pet’s signs or stage of life.
  • We collect samples as calmly as we can.
  • We review in-house results before you leave, with a written estimate first.

What to bring

Bring a short list of food and medications. A fresh stool sample helps if we need a fecal check. You do not need old clinic records if we already see your pet here.
