Who is the cat veterinarian here?
Dr. Philip Shanker, DVM, is our feline specialist. He spent 43 years as sole owner and director of The Cat Hospital in Campbell, and now sees cats at Morgan Hill Animal Hospital with Dr. Harika and associates. What cat care do you offer in one visit?
A full-service hospital backs the feline exam: wellness and vaccines, in-house lab, digital X-rays, ultrasound, dental care, and surgery. You get a written estimate before extra treatment.
From kittens to senior cats, what should I expect?
Kitten vaccine series and FVRCP boosters, annual wellness exams, dental cleanings with dental X-rays, surgical extractions when a tooth cannot be saved, and senior screenings for thyroid, kidney, and weight changes. Healthy adult cats usually come once a year. Seniors, around age 10 and up, do better with two visits a year, because cats hide illness well.
Can I get a same-day appointment?
Often, yes. We do not take walk-ins, but we hold room in the schedule for urgent cases. Call (408) 779-7325, describe what is going on, and we will fit your cat in the same day when urgency calls for it.
What about after-hours emergencies?
If your cat has an emergency outside our hours (Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Saturday 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Sunday closed), go to your nearest emergency animal hospital. During open hours, call us first and we will help you decide the fastest path to care.
My cat hates the carrier. Any tips?
Leave the carrier out at home with a towel and treats inside so it stops meaning vet day. Tell us your cat is nervous when you book, and we will plan a quieter slot.
What happens at this visit?
- We listen to the changes you have noticed at home, then examine your cat.
- Lab work, X-rays, or dental care when needed, with a written estimate first.
- You leave with next steps and a way to reach us.
What to bring
Bring your cat in a secure carrier, a short list of food and medications, and prior records if this is a first visit. If travel is stressful, tell us when you book.
