Where does Dr. Shanker practice now?
Dr. Philip Shanker, DVM, sees cats at Morgan Hill Animal Hospital, 16150 Monterey Road, just off US-101. If you were his client at The Cat Hospital in Campbell, welcome. Call (408) 779-7325, mention you are a former client, and we will help transfer your cat’s records. His bio has more on his feline specialty background.
How far is it from San Jose?
An easy drive south on US-101: about 15 to 20 minutes from South San Jose and 25 to 35 minutes from central San Jose. Parking is at the hospital. If you prefer a Morgan Hill landing page first, see cat care in Morgan Hill.
Is this a cats-only hospital?
No. We are a full-service hospital for dogs, cats, and exotic pets, trusted since 1970. Cats still get feline-focused care, including from Dr. Shanker, plus in-house lab, digital X-rays, ultrasound, dental, and surgery under one roof.
What should I bring to a first visit here?
Records from your previous clinic, a short list of food and medications, and your questions. If you cannot get the records, call us and we will request them before the visit.
Can I get a same-day appointment?
Often, yes. We do not take walk-ins, but we hold room for urgent cases. Call (408) 779-7325, describe what is going on, and we will fit your cat in the same day when urgency calls for it.
What about after-hours emergencies?
Outside our hours (Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Saturday 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Sunday closed), go to your nearest emergency animal hospital. During open hours, call us first.
What happens at this visit?
- We confirm you are booking with Dr. Shanker when you want him, and gather prior records.
- Exam and any lab work or imaging, with a written estimate before extra treatment.
- A plan for vaccines, dental, or senior screening based on your cat’s stage of life.
