Microchipping

Pet microchipping gives your dog or cat permanent identification that can’t fall off or fade, and it takes about as long as a vaccine.

Our Story

Collars Come Off. A Microchip Doesn't.

Collars break, tags fall off, and a scared pet can slip out of a harness in seconds. A microchip is a permanent form of ID that stays with your pet for life, so if they’re ever lost and brought to a shelter or vet clinic, a quick scan can help get them back to you.

SERVICES

We systematically evaluate every part of your pet’s body, from checking eyes for cloudiness and ears for infection (using our video otoscope) to listening for heart murmurs, feeling for unusual lumps, and testing joint mobility. This thorough approach helps us detect subtle problems like early kidney disease or hidden tumors that pets instinctively hide from their owners.

We test for internal parasites through fecal analysis and check for external parasites like fleas and ticks that can transmit serious diseases. Based on your pet’s lifestyle and our local parasite risks, we’ll recommend the most effective prevention plan to keep your pet protected year-round.

Rather than over-vaccinating, we create a personalized vaccine schedule based on your pet’s age, health status, and lifestyle risks. Indoor cats need different protection than hiking dogs, and we’ll ensure your pet gets exactly what they need, nothing more, nothing less.

We examine your pet’s teeth, gums, and mouth for signs of periodontal disease, which affects 80% of pets over age three and can lead to heart, kidney, and liver problems. Early detection of dental issues means we can prevent painful infections and avoid costly extractions down the road.

We’ll discuss your pet’s diet, exercise habits, behavior changes, and home environment to provide personalized recommendations for optimal health. Whether it’s choosing the right food for your senior cat’s kidneys or exercise tips for your energetic puppy, we help you make the best decisions for your pet’s unique needs.

MICROCHIPPING

A Microchip Is the One ID Your Pet Can't Lose, Chew Off, or Slip Out Of

What Is a Microchip, and How Does It Work?

A microchip is a tiny device, about the size of a grain of rice, implanted just under your pet’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades. Each chip carries a unique ID number. If your pet is found and scanned at a shelter, vet clinic, or by animal control, that number is looked up in a pet recovery database to find your contact information. A microchip is not a GPS tracker; it doesn’t show your pet’s location in real time. It only works when someone scans it and looks up the number.

Does Getting a Microchip Hurt My Pet?

Placing a microchip feels similar to a routine vaccination, a quick injection with a slightly larger needle. Most pets barely react, and no anesthesia is needed for adult pets. If your pet is already scheduled for spay or neuter surgery, we can often place the microchip at the same time while they’re already under anesthesia.

Is Microchipping Enough on Its Own?

A microchip only works if its registration stays current. After your pet is chipped, the microchip number needs to be registered with a pet recovery database and linked to your current phone number and address. If you move or change your number, update your registration. We’re happy to help you check that your pet’s chip is registered and up to date at any visit.

Does California Require Microchipping?

Many California shelters and rescues require pets to be microchipped before adoption, and it’s a widely recommended practice for all pets, indoor or outdoor. [Placeholder: confirm current local Morgan Hill/Santa Clara County requirements before publishing as a legal claim.]

How Do I Get My Pet Microchipped?

We believe in upfront, transparent pricing. You’ll get a written estimate before we place your pet’s microchip, so there’s never a surprise on the bill.
