What does a professional cleaning include?
A veterinary cleaning scales and polishes teeth above and below the gumline, where a toothbrush cannot reach. We use ultrasonic scaling, then check for teeth that need extraction or endodontic repair. You get a written estimate before any extra treatment.
Why is anesthesia used?
Without anesthesia we cannot clean below the gumline, take dental X-rays, or examine each tooth safely. We use pre-anesthetic blood work when appropriate, a protocol matched to your pet, and continuous monitoring.
Why is anesthesia-free cleaning not enough?
Anesthesia-free cleanings only address what you can see. They do not clean under the gum, take X-rays, or treat disease that is already there. We do not offer that as a substitute for a therapeutic cleaning.
How often does my pet need a cleaning?
Most dogs and cats benefit from a professional cleaning about once a year. Small-breed dogs or pets with heavy tartar may need it more often. Your veterinarian will recommend a schedule from what we see at the wellness exam.
What happens after the cleaning?
We keep your pet comfortable and monitored through recovery, then go over findings, including any dental X-ray results. You leave with a written summary. Most pets are groggy for a few hours at home.

What to bring
Bring a short list of what your pet eats and any medications or preventives they take. You do not need old clinic records if we already see your pet here. Follow any fasting instructions we give when you book.
